Treasure Time: German-Style

Having married an American-German, we have incorperated a lot of the German culture into our lives. And we cheer on the teams of both countries. So this past Wednesday we went all out for the German World Cup game.
Here is the evidence.

We had arranged to watch the game with a group of friends. We took Anne with us for her treasue time.

Eventually she got tired and wanted a blanket. I didn't have one, so we made use of the flag. She looks so patriotic. It was so fun to see all the guys' reactions to each play and the win. It was a great time. We are so excited that both America and Germany made it into the 2nd round.

Fathers are the Best

I had been mentally planning this Father's Day for awhile and I was very excited. We are on a tight budget, so the gifts were all homemade. In a way I like that best; spending a minimal amount of money, but getting something that truly "describes" how you feel.
Anne and Alicia made signs for Daddy and Bahnka. They even cut them out themselves...Alicia needed a little help from Mom. I hung the signs up before they got up on Father's Day.
Katie even got a chance to draw a picture for each of them. These were actually her very first real self-done drawings. She had the most fun eating the crayons.

We made breakfast for the men and sat down together to eat it. That doesn't happen often, because we all have such different schedules.

When the men got up they got to see their signs. The girls were so proud of them and I was too.
We had a nice relaxing afternoon after church. I got to call my dad and wish him a Happy Father's Day. And Jared and I spent a while talking to both my parents. I sure miss living close to them and participating in all the fun things they all do together.
Our dinner that night was steak and potatoes; the men-folk's favorite.
For dessert we had cake...one for Daddy and one for Bahnka. Alicia helped me put the hearts on Daddy's.
I think the men loved having their special day. And we loved doing all the special things for them. I hope they know how much we love them.

Harvest

This morning I finally finished the weeding. So now you get the picture of my other tomatoes, zicchini and pumpkins.

And a couple days ago we had our first harvest. Aren't they pretty?!

She May Never Drive

Jared and I took Katie grocery shopping on Saturday. She got the ride in one of those cars attached to the shopping carts.
Needless, to say she loved it!
I cracked up when I saw this one, because it looks like she is going to crash.

Am I a Geek?

I just saw the trailer for the "Tron Legacy". Oh, I can't wait to see it (I hope it's not rated R). I grew up watching the original and loved it.

Does that make me a geek?

*Bloomp*

The other day Anne was laying in Gma's waterbed, on the very edge. When Gma got in Anne fell out. She has been talking about it ever since.

Last night we asked her to say the prayer. We have been trying to teach them how to pray and what kinds of things to pray for. Here is a portion of Anne's prayer:

"Heavenly Father...I fell out of the bed. That was couples a days ago. And I go "bloomp"...."

Needless, to say all of the adults had a hard time keep their composer. Gma and I got the giggles when she was done.

Garden Week...I Lost Track

I HAVE VEGETABLES!!!!!! My very first. These are the first ones that belong to MY garden!!!!
There are some peas ready.
And some buds on my tomatoes. I don't have a picture of my zuccini and pumpkins, because they desperately need to be weeded and I don't want to embarass myself.

Treasure Time

We started a new tradition this past week. We call it "Treasure Time". It is when one or both of us take one of the girls on a special date. This week it was Alicia's turn. She got to ride on these fun rides and do a little shopping with mom and dad.

She even got to go out to dinner. Gotta love Happy Meals. You can see the necklace and bracelet she picked out for herself.

Then the next day Alicia got to spend the afternoon with her pre-school class in preparation for her starting in September. She had so much fun and keeps asking to go back. It is going to be a long time til September.

For Aunt Mandi

We had to get these pictures just for you.

I added this one, because it is cute.
